Second Annual Pie Baking Contest A Big Success

November 16, 2019, Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream held its Second Annual Pie Contest. This year, Nick Morgenstern (owner of Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream) and Millicent Souris (author of the book, How to Build A Better Pie and the Rescue Food Manager at St. John’s Bread and Life) welcomed Maury Rubin of City Bakery fame as their guest judge. A total of 20 delicious entries were taste-tested and 3 winners and 1 honorable mention were selected from among the tight race. A very special thanks to Nick and his staff who hosted the event.

Also thanks to Alameda, Achilles Heel, Babs, Booker and Dax Lab, Bread and Salt Bakery, Brodo, Dandelion Wine, Danny Wine & Spirits, the Fly, Foret Wines, the 4 Horseman, MIMI, Momofuku, Morgenstern’s, Ops, New Thai Diner, Scarr’s Pizza, Secretly Group, Superiority Burger for donating raffle prizes.

Proceeds from the event benefited the emergency food programs at St. John’s Bread and Life, a non profit serving the Brooklyn community since 1982 and distributing more than 900,000 meals to the hungry annually.
