30th Anniversary Event
On Saturday, September 15, 2012 you are cordially invited to the 30th Anniversary of St. John’s Bread & Life. We will celebrate our service to the community, our accomplishments and achievements over the past 30 years and look into the future.
Founded in 1982, St. John's Bread & Life was established to respond to the needs of the poor, help people achieve self-sufficiency and educate the public's awareness about hunger in New York City. Over the past 30 years, Bread & Life has expanded their reach into the community by opening a new 26,000 square foot facility, operating a Mobile Soup Kitchen, providing nutrition counseling, a legal clinic, food stamp assistance and numerous other social services.
The event will start with a brief reception and celebration mass at Saint John the Baptist Parish followed by a procession to St. John's Bread & Life. Once at Bread & Life you will have the opportunity to view the modern facility, sample some of the city’s finest gourmet treats, meet one-on-one with staff and clients, and learn more about all of the services provided by Bread & Life.

Bread and Life Baby Shower Fundraising Event
June 29th, 2012 from 3Pm to 6PM - Visit our Registry at Babies "R" Us
This is a fundraising event for those families of our community in need. On behalf of those families you are about to assist, we thank you. Gift cards are most welcomed. With cuts in benefits and our declining economy, we are noticing a higher utilization rate amongst those already registered with our organization. Last year people had a better chance of stabilizing themselves after using our services; this year we have noticed an influx in return visits. We are rapidly running out of toiletries and infant essentials. Organizations that assisted with these services are also reducing the number of sites they link with due to the lack of resources, thus decreasing our referrals.
In an effort to continue servicing the need of the community, we are conducting a Fundraiser Event for Baby Essentials. We ask that you please consider any form of contribution. This effort is graciously accepted. Thanks again from the staff of SJBL.
