Bread & Life will be hosting Cookshop - a cooking class series for adults and children.

CookShop, the core nutrition education program of Food Bank For New York City, gives low-income children, adults and teens the knowledge and tools to adopt and enjoy a healthy diet and active lifestyle on a limited budget. During this series, we will make six easy recipes together and provide the ingredients for participants to make these meals themselves at home starting July 30th and ending September 24th between 10am and noon. This series will take place at

Part 1: Wednesday July 30th 10am at Lobby of St. John's Bread and Life.

Farmer’s Market walking tour to Halsey St and Broadway with Pamela Judkins. There will be games and cooking demonstration on site and participants will be provided with Health Bucks, coupons to buy produce at the market.

Pamela Judkins has been a community chef for the Local Produce Link(LPL) program since 2012. She goes to programs from Staten Island to Brooklyn showing pantry members quick, healthy and inexpensive ways to prepare fresh vegetables being grown for the pantry by small independent local farms in New York State. Pamela is also a pantry volunteer, since 2011, here at Bread and Life . This summer she will also be leading walking tours to local farmer's markets where pantry participants will learn how to shop the market using health bucks, a 2.00 coupon that can be spent at farmer's markets and their SNAP cards.
